AH6 and AH7 are designed and constructed to be completely relocatable in 5-10 years.

La Trobe University (LTU) Zoology Annexe Project involves the Design and Construction of two relocatable animal holding facilities, referred to as AH6 and AH7, and the minor refurbishment of an existing animal facility AH5a. These three facilities are located within the University’s animals compound referred to as the LARTF (La Trobe Research and Teaching Facility). All buildings are designed to maintain stringent temperature and air quality control.

AH6 & AH7 are both PC2 Animal facilities, with one designed for avian holding; and the other for native animal holding.

The existing native animal facility known as AH5a is a brick building from the 70s and has been repurposed for animal support work. This includes food preparation and cage washing. The new infrastructure works are future proofing to accomodate a future change to aPC2 aquatic laboratory.
